PRP/PRF Treatments for Under-eye dark circles, bags, and puffiness.

Under eye dark circles and bags have plagued people for a long time. Dark circles and bags can not only make you look tired, but can also age you. The appearance of these tend to have a pretty strong genetic predisposition; and also influenced by other factors such as smoking, diet, sleep habits etc. But those later ones are modifiable. Genetics  – not so much. So, although you may be inclined to just “learn to love” them, there are a few options out there to help lessen the appearance of under eye dark circles and bags.

  1. Topical: topical medical grade skin care and serums/eye creams. There are so many options out there and it takes trial and error to see what works best for you. Amount of reduction: minimal
  2. RF micro-needling: can be a good non invasive option. Frequent maintenance treatments and up-keep is required. Amount of reduction: minimal to moderate.
  3. Under eye HA filler: This is a good option but for VERY FEW candidates. For many people treatment with this can end up looking more puffy and can obstruct lymphatic flow if not placed correctly. Amount of reduction: moderate. NOTE: to help improve under-eye dark circles and support that delicate structure, many providers also recommend mid face HA filler. Mid face filler is almost a cornerstone treatment to help improve the under-eye appearance.
  4. PRP/PRF/biofiller: Great option as a non-surgical intervention and can provide moderate reduction to the under-eye puffiness and bags, and can lost for up to 6 months. So upkeep can be semi-annually. Minimally invasive, this uses your own blood products to be re-injected under your eyes to stimulate collagen development to support the under-eye structures. This reduces chances of lymphatic flow obstruction, puffiness, and naturally stimulates the body to build more collagen.
  5. Surgical: lower blepharoplasty. Invasive, expensive, longer down time; but long lasting permanent results with no upkeep. Maximal results.
