Hair Loss Treatment
What to expect?
There are so many options out in the market for hair loss. However, most of them are not usually highly efficacious, other than hair transplantation. Dutasteride is a 5-alpha reductase inhibitor which has been shown to be efficacious in Androgenic Alopecia (hair loss related to aging in men and women). It traditionally was taken orally but it does come with it's own side effects. Now, however, intradermal injections delivers this medication straight to the scalp and targets areas of hair loss largely reducing the side effect profile.
Since PRP (platelet rich plasma) has been used to treat hair loss and has good efficacy for hair re-growth, we can now add PRP to the dutasteride and minoxidil combination with PRP making it doubly effective!
During the consultation, we can ascertain that you are good candidate for the injections depending on the pattern of your hair loss. We will go over side effect profile, and give you a realistic timeline based on your level of hair loss and results we want to achieve. During the appointment, we numb your scalp topically (rarely we need local blocks with lidocaine) and then inject in appropriate areas. Down time is minimal (<24 hours)!
